How Silly and Cute Young People Are

August 29th, 2011 by Michael Tabor
Well it’s nearly 2012 and not a single event, trivial or not, is caught and captured by our cellphones and then circulated throughout the world via the internet.
A young girl, perhaps in her teens or even maybe a little older, has a crush on St. Louis Rams quarterback; she painstakingly puts together a placard with the words –”Marry me Sam Bradford” inscribed. The St. Louis Rams Football Organization and maybe even the NFL decide to make a sweet gesture and have Sam Bradford sign it. He signs it and it is given back to her by his people and the girl is so overwhelmed, she visibly hyperventilates and starts to cry (see video clip)

Isn’t it wonderful to be young, silly and cute!!!!
My only issue is that, Sam Bradford, who is really just a kid himself (23), nonchalantly signs the poster and gives it to his PR people, doesn’t even glance at the young girl and walks off like he’s president of the United States or perhaps one of the most important people in the world. I thought it was a nice gesture but I wish Sam would have gone that extra mile and personally handed it to her and perhaps given her a KISS !
Isn’t it great to be young and still be capable of puppy love. Very cute!

Fantasy draft went well. 1 down, 1 to go. Got Sam Bradford to lead a very gun squad.\nGeekdom near complete.

You’re right on target, unfortunately, when it gets to the point that “his people gave it to her” it just shows what the world has become. At the tender age of 23 this “kid” has “people”. I personally think it shows just what this world has become…………too impersonal!!! These “kids” grow up, earn money that they have no concept of (they probably have no true idea of how much money they have in the bank or if they’re getting ripped off), have “their people” handle everything and they think they “rule the world”, then people wonder why people like Michael Vick and Plaxico Burress (just to name 2) think they are above it all.
    I rest my case.

Precisely my point, Chip. A boy who has been coddled and pampered his whole life, since boyhood – when adult males think that throwing a football is more important than math, science , and English. Our priorities are completely backward. Back in the 1940’s and 50’s, mathemeticians and physicists were the heroes. Now it’s all about entertainment and sports and that’s why our once great nation is no longer.

One further note: I don’t blame the unspeakale “cockiness” on the boy, Sam Bradford nor the girl for her silly puppy love for a stranger/hero, but us as a society that supplants on a pedestal a kid who could throw a football rather than a scientst who finds a cure for cancer.

Oh well, maybe I’m taking this all too serious – let children be children but please we all must agree that our society pays our entertainers waaaaaay 2 much $$$ & as a result this silly self-importance ensues.
