Oh, Lovely Ruin

June 24th, 2011 by Magdalena Tabor
Oh, lovely ruin
Cobwebbed and careless,
Curtained with ivy
Lovelorn and stairless.
Empty of dream
Dusky with slumber,
Awaken for me
In wide-eyed wonder.
Show me the shadow
That fades on the wall,
That once was your mistress
For I’ve come to call.
The absence of chair
Cushioned with velvet,
Leaves simply the floor
Where I sit while you tell it.
A fable conveyed
In whispers and groans,
Oh, lovely ruin
At last I’ve come home.
